While the kitchen is one of the busiest areas in your home, it’s also one of the dirtiest. This is where you cook three meals in a day. And it’s not a surprise if you leave some crumbs or food particles on your kitchen sink, countertop, or tables. Whether you’re cooking pasta, a burger, or frying eggs, spills and stains are inevitable in the kitchen.

But don’t fret. Responsible cooks and homeowners know how a clean kitchen can improve their cooking. It’s always recommended to work your way through a clean and organized kitchen. Unfortunately, not all homeowners have the luxury of time to delegate some cleaning chores regularly. But if you’re looking for quick and effective hacks to clean your kitchen, here are 5 that you must try.

  1. Lemon for a fresh scent  – You know how oils and food particles can accumulate in your kitchen sink. Overtime, this can create a stinky smell that’s not very appealing. Use lemon as a hack and natural scent for your kitchen sink. Squeeze some lemon juices into some ice cube trays. Then mix a bit of water into the ice cube tray. Once the cubes turn to ice, you can drop them in your kitchen sink and it’ll surely leave a fresh scent.
  2. Unclog drains with vinegar and baking soda – You can use natural ingredients to unclog your kitchen sinks and drains. It’s fairly easy and quick too! Vinegar is made up of acetic acid, and when this acid is mixed with boiling water, it helps loosen the goop in your drains. Here are the steps in unclogging your drains with vinegar and baking soda:
  • First, pour boiling water into your drain or sink
  • Then mix a cup of baking soda, and a half and half of water and vinegar
  • Mix all together to make a solution
  • Pour the solution into your drain
  • Cover the drain and let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes
  • Then pour hot water again and you’re done!
  1. Use cotton ball oils for bins – Your trash bins are the nastiest things in your kitchen. Imagine to throw a bunch of raw and cooked stuff in your trash bins. That’s going to create an awful smell! Try to avoid a stinky smell from your trash bin by dipping some cotton balls into aromatic essential oils. Then you can throw these cotton balls into your trash bins to keep it fragrant, even while throwing God-knows-what in there.
  2. Vacuum nook and crannies – You might be meticulous about conspicuous areas in your kitchen. But some kitchen nooks and crannies are actually the dirtiest as well. That’s because you don’t see what’s left in those corners. So instead of wiping them with a wet or damp cloth, you can vacuum these little corners instead to ensure that no particle or crumb gets left behind.
  3. Polish your silver with a natural solution – Want to give your silver utensils a new shine? Try a simple natural solution using baking soda, sea salt, and vinegar!                                            Grab a baking dish with aluminum foil. Then mix baking soda and salt and pour into the baking dish. Mix in ½ cup of vinegar, then add boiling water. Place your silverware on the baking side one by one and wait 30 seconds or more. You’d be surprised how this solution removes tarnish!
